History

|
The Bishop Joseph Thumma Junoir college started July 1993,
at Keesara Krishna District Andhra Pradesh. Keesara is a remote
village on the National Highway No:9 45 km away from the
Vijayawada.
It is in between two small towns Nandigama and
Kanchikachurla
it is 250 km away from the state capital Hyderabad.
The College was named after Bishop. Joseph
Thumma the Bishop of Vijayawada Diocese. As such the De La
Salle Brothers run this instruction.

Aims
The aim of the college is to provide the quality education
to the rural poor students. in 1993 there was no college around
10 km radius. The students of surrounding 14 villages were
to go the nearest towns for the college education. Most of
the students are belonging to the family of agricultural labourers.
So they are unable to send their children for college education.
In this circumstances the Bishop Joseph Thumma. the Bishop
of Vijayawada Diocese. dedicated to start +1, +2 in Keesara.
The De La Salle Brothers came forward happily to provide the
Intermediate level education with great challenge.
The Diocese provided land to the college but it was the challenge
for brothers to provide infrastructure and other facilities.
The college was started in the neighbouring Immaculate Sisters
school building in Keesera 1993. In 1994 Brothers Constructed
a new building for the college with great struggle but the
brothers they never lost the aim and vision of St De La Salle.
In the beginning college started with two groups Maths,
Physics, Chemistry ( M.P.C) Commerce, Economics, Civics (CEC)
in English medium, that time it was only meant for the boys.
In 1993 - 94 academic year only 35 boys joined for the college
education.
In 1998 - 99 brothers started to admit the
girls and introduced Telugu (Local Language) medium also Brothers
provide transport facility to bring the students from different
villages to the college. And this academic year 2006 - 07
there are 450 students with 25 staff members with maths,
physics, chemistry (MPC) , Botany Physics Chemistry (Bi.pc)
, Commerce, Economics, Civils (CEC) Medical Lab Technology
(MLT).
Hostel
The Benildus hostel started in 1999-98; Brothers
providing boarding facility to the students. At present there
are 170 boys and 60 girls are (residing) staying.
Result
B.J.T
status always top with 80% of result. It produced State Rankers
and the students of the college continuously getting "
National Merit Scholarship" since 2005 we maintain good
and standard education around Kanchikacharala and Nandigama
mandals.

Administrative
Structure
|
|
The administration of the BJT college is animated by the Brothers
in close collaboration with the Lasallian Partners. All the
day to day regulations and decisions are taken in the Management
Committee.
The
Management Committee consists of the following members.
1.President of the delegation and community members
2. Correspondent and Principal (With executive powers)
3. Staff and Non-Teaching Staff:
Before any major decisions are taken the executive has to
consult the management committee. He is accountable to the
management committee for all the operations in the college.
He has executive powers in day-to-day administration of the
institutions.
The staff has regular monthly meetings.
The students have their representative council to voice their
own concerns.
The hostel warden is appointed by the president of the delegation.
He is also a member of the management committee. But for Governmental
purposes it is the principle of the college who is the executive.

Offered
|
The college offers
two different courses in both English and Telugu medium.
i) M.P.C. (Maths, Physics, Chemistry)
ii) C.E.C. (Civics, Economics, Commerce)
iii) B. P. C. (Biology, Physics, Chemistry)
Besides this, basic and advanced computer courses are
also organized. |

Computer Centre
In BJT college there is a full pledged computer center
with twelve systems and a well qualified staff. Students
in the campus are given chance to learn computer operating
system during the course of study
They are taught the following subjects.
Basics, MSDOS commands, Microsoft Office, Page Maker,
Photo shop etc., |

Sports
Activities
|
|
Everyday the students have fixed time schedule exclusively
for games. There are different courts available within the
campus and enough sports material also are made available.
Some students play in the late afternoon and others late evening.
Occasionally sports competitions are arranged in the college.
These competitions are two types: one is Inter-departmental
and the other intro-departmental. Occasionally neighboring
village youths come and play friendly matches. Students are
also encouraged to participate in the sports activities at
college Mandal, District, State and national levels.
The college constantly produces many district and state at
different levels. Once a year, the students are divided into
four groups to organize sports meet among the groups. On Annual
day the prizes are distributed. The common games played among
the students are cricket, football and volleyball.

Youth
Movement
|
|
Lasalle Youth Movement
is a community of believers gathered in faith to share the
love of God through service.
Aim
- Share the story of St. John Baptist De La Salle, relating
it to the youth of today.
- Encourage the spirit of faith and zeal.
- Connect to other Lasallian Ministries.
Activities
There
is a fully qualified youth animator in the college to coordinate
the Lasalle Youth programs.
Every month he organizes regular meetings for the Youth group
members.
Input sessions on social awareness, personality development,
job opportunities and value education are organized at regular
intervals.
Occasional visits to holy places of all faiths, hospitals,
slums, and prisons are also arranged in order to impart values
of social justice among the youth group members.
They also involve child-help-line programs for the sake of
street children.
