stand, market area, railway station and temples. |

counseling is given to them. Some of these children are
reunited with their parents. |

are placed in jobs suitable to their talents and likings. |
Rehabilitaion In
consideration of their future life, we make arrangements for their
rehabilitation by sending them to rehabilitaion centres. |
Small
Savings The
children are in the habit of saving for their future and continue
as per the advice. |
Tour
/ Picnic The
street children are given chances for picnic / tours to well known
picnic spots / pilgrim centres. |
Recreational
/ Games
Accommodation
is secured for the night stay from the onslaught of anti social elements
and harassment from the police. For their recreation, indoor games
and television facilities are provided. |
Health
care Malnutrition
and lack of awareness on health, street children are liable to so
many diseases. Therefore special attention is given to
their health care, by making sure they regularly bathe,
use oil and wash their cloths. |
Activities
for Working Children |

The
treatment process to them also is same as in the case of street children.
Since they are mostly living with parents, the question of reunion
with them does not arise. However SJDT organizes the following programs
for the working children.

Art
and Craft training program
The objective of the training is
· To make them self reliant and self sufficient economically.
· To help them start cottage industries on their own.
· To make them aware of their skills and talent. |

House Visit
The staff visits the house of the working children regularly. They
visit the parents and counsel them about the importance of education,
which in turn would lead their children to brighter future. |

Re-schooling
Through the women's forum, school dropouts are identified. The staff
advice and counsel them on the basic educational rights of the children
and also arrange re-schooling in government / private schools so that
they could continue their studies. |

Non-formal
Education
For the illiterate children, the staff organize non-formal education.
The children are taught to read and write simple words and are given
general knowledge. |

Health Care
As the working children are engaged in various types of works, they
are easily affected by disease. To recover them from these diseases,
they are also given proper treatments. |

Activities
for Children in Observation Home |

Observation home
is based as a tie up arrangement between the juvenile court / juvenile
welfare board and Puduyugam. |
|

Counseling
The children are given counseling. Based on the intensity of the problems
and needs of the children both individual and group counseling are
adopted. The aim of this counseling is to remove the bad habits from
the children and implanting new virtues. As in the case of the drug
addicts, special care and attention are given by the specialists. |

Food and Snacks
The children in the observation home are given food and snacks everyday
during the reporting period. |
| |
Games
In the evening, the children are given chances to play indoor games
like caroms, chess and outdoor games like football and cricket. During
the games the children are observed and helped to control their passions
and practice self-control. A team spirit is encouraged among them. |

Recreation
Recreational facilities are given to the children daily. They sing
and dance during the recreational hours and are also provided with
the television show to enjoy themselves. Some boys are keen in gardening
that is plantation, watering and cultivating flower plants. |
