History
|

Bro James Kimpton started St. Joseph's
Boys Village, at Genguvarpatti, in Periakulam Taluk,
about 40 miles from Madurai. On 20th May 1974, the
first group of poor junior boys were accommodated.
There were about fifty boys including the families
of the staff members, lived as one family. They had
a common kitchen and had their meals together. Thus
the environment of a Boys Home was maintained. Initially
the boys were trained in agricultural farming, animal
husbandry, and rural industries. |
