History

how small, is getting you closer to your goal"
LKC marches towards
rebuilding the lives of Tsunami affected people and
supporting children's education in this new academic
year. LKC launches its programme in 20 villages at Nagapattinam
block, empowering the weaker section of the society
(Women) and children towards a better future, aiming
that they may take over the future.
Literary Associations are organized in each center on
different days. Along with the children's academic studies,
their variety programmes bring out their inner talent.
Colourful cultural programmes, thematic plays, and awareness
activities are the main items staged and this is the
attraction to the parents and villagers.
Community
hall opening
A newly constructed community hall at Vettaikaranrippu
was opened on 8th August'06 by Bro.Arockiya doss, the
president of Delasalle brothers. He was given a rousing
welcome by the Children, Village youth group and SHG
members. Children's karakattam, DCC children's rhymes
and SHG member's kummiyattam were the part of the programme.
Finally Bro.Doss distributed bags and note books to
the children and thanked Mr.Kalimuthu, for his generosity
in donating the land for LaSalle Kadalisai to run the
programme and to own it.
Independence day
celebration
On 15th August morning around 7.30am Junior novice Dominic
hoisted the flag and delivered 60th Independence day
message. Independence day was also celebrated in our
Tuition and Day care centers with the help of SHG members
and local Panchayat leaders.
St.Mutien
Marie Literary Association
To mark the 60th Independence Day and
to have their first term Talents day, LaSalle Kadalisai
kalaigulu (juniors) organized St.Mutien Marie Literary
Association on 15th August'06 at 3pm. Mr. Police. Panneer,
the city DMK secretary along with his wife came and
presided over the function. Mr. Soosairaj, a teacher
from St. Antony's Hr.Sec.school conducted Juniors "Arratai
Arangam" and distributed prizes. All our office
staffs were there, encouraging junior's efforts, joining
us for evening prayer service and for dinner.
LaSalle
Youth Service Scheme (LYSS)
LYSS officially inaugurated for this academic year on
29th July'06 by Bro. Xavier. He talked on "SOCIAL
AWARENESS". LKC and SJDT organized a one day Regional
level youth meet on 19th August'06 at St. Antony's primary
school in Nagai. Bro. Uvari, inaugurated the meet, and
in his address invited the youth to take up their lives.
Sportively and encouraged the youth to be
more responsible
in their duties. Bro. Jerry took session on "Leadership"
and Bro. Jeyakumar the youth Co-ordinator of the Delegation
motivated them to give some thing (talent) for common
welfare instead of expecting always something from others.
Five of our LYSS member participated in the 3 days camp
that was held at Boys Town from 25th - 27th August'06
in Madurai.
Our
Lady of Vailankanni - Flag Hoisting
The Annual feast of Vailankanni
started on 29th August'06.The Birth of Mother Mary is
remembered from 29th August'06 to 8th September'06 every
year. Brothers and Juniors participated in the flag hoisting
ceremony. People from all parts of the world flock together
to this Basilica with petitions and thanksgiving for the
favors received. Ministering at Vailankanni during this
time for the faithful is really a blessing for brothers.
