History And Mission Statement












 



 

St. Joseph's High School is situated in Keelamudimun mission parish in the diocese of TUTICORIN. It is 36 Km away towards north west of TUTICORIN , a port town South India. This School was taken Over by the De Lasalle Brothers from the Diocese in June 2001 to animate and develop this most backward area 75% of the total populations are Dalits who are poor and ignorant and discriminated by the caste - minded people. This school caters to the educational needs of twenty Village children in around Keelamudimun. There three hundred Boys and two hundred twenty girls are studying. Because of this school, many of them are able to continue their secondary education.


Guiding Principle

" The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour " (Luke 4/18-19)

Mission

Valan (Lasalle) High School, Keelamudimun, a Lasallian Institution of Religious Educators who work with their dedicated Lay Partners, is committed to the service of mankind, especially the economically deprived, the illiterate, ignorant of their rights and dropouts, through formal and non formal education.
The education being offered is founded on Christian principles which is animated by the Lasallian Spirit motivated by a desire to raise up economic and social status.
This Lasallian Ministry would enhance and promote justice, human dignity and values for a better living as good citizens of India.

Hostel :

There are 130 boys staying in this hostel. Many of them are underprivileged children from this rural area many children do not have secondary school in their villages and hence they came stay in this hostel

Tsunami Children
There are Forty Tsunami affected Children are staying in this hostel. R.T.U has taken the responsibility to support there children in all the financial help.
